Privacy Policy
Last updated: 6 September 2026
1. Who we are
TryChat (“we”, “us”) provides an AI chat assistant with image creation, image reading and optional web search. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and what rights you have. For data protection questions contact privacy@trychat.net.
2. Data we collect
- Account data: email address, display name, avatar, password hash or social sign-in identifier, and the date you joined.
- Content data: your messages, conversation titles, uploaded images and files, and the responses and images generated for you.
- Plan and billing data: your plan, subscription status and period, receipts and billing records. We do not store full card numbers.
- Usage data: counts of messages and images, storage used, model chosen, timestamps, and moderation or rate-limit events.
- Technical data: IP address, browser and device information, and error logs, used for security and diagnostics.
- Cookies and local storage: needed to keep you signed in and to remember preferences such as theme.
3. How we use your data
- To provide the Service: run conversations, create and edit images, search the web when you ask, and keep your history.
- To manage your account, plan, limits, receipts and support requests.
- To keep the Service safe: prevent abuse, fraud, spam and misuse, and enforce our Terms.
- To improve reliability and performance through aggregated, non-identifying analytics.
- To comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use your conversations to train our own AI models.
4. Legal bases (EEA/UK)
- Contract: to deliver the Service and your plan.
- Legitimate interests: security, abuse prevention, service improvement.
- Consent: optional features such as sending an image or file to a model provider, where required.
- Legal obligation: tax, accounting and lawful requests.
5. Service providers (subprocessors)
We share only what is needed with providers that process data on our behalf:
- Authentication and database hosting — account data and session management.
- Object storage and content delivery — storage and delivery of your uploaded and generated images.
- AI model providers — processing prompts, images and files to generate responses.
- Web search provider — search queries, only when a search is performed.
- Social sign-in provider — if you choose to sign in with a social account.
Some providers are outside your country. Where required, transfers rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent safeguard.
6. Retention
- Conversations, files and generated images: kept until you delete them or delete your account.
- Account data: kept while your account is active, then deleted or anonymised within 90 days.
- Billing records: kept as long as tax and accounting law requires (typically up to 7 years).
- Security and abuse logs: typically up to 12 months.
- Backups may retain copies for a short period after deletion.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, export or restrict your data, to object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent. EEA/UK users may complain to their local data protection authority. California residents may request disclosure and deletion and are never discriminated against for exercising these rights. You can delete conversations and files in the app, or email privacy@trychat.net; we respond within 30 days.
8. Security
We use encryption in transit, hashed credentials, row-level security so each account can only reach its own data, access controls for administrators, and audit logging for sensitive actions. No online service can be completely secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
9. Children
The Service is not for children under 13, and users under 18 need parent or guardian permission. If we learn we have collected data from a child under 13 we delete it.
10. Cookies
We use only cookies and local storage that are necessary for sign-in, security and preferences. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels. Blocking essential cookies will stop you from signing in.
11. Automated processing
Responses are produced automatically by AI models, and rate limits or abuse protections may be applied automatically. These do not produce legal effects about you; you can contact us to have a decision reviewed by a person.
12. Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be announced in the app or by email before they take effect, and the date at the top will change.
